handing/taking over ceremony

   

      

       Rear Admiral Waseem Akram SI(M), S Bt assumed the duties of Director General, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency in a simple but impressive ceremony held at HQ PMSA, Karachi on 27 September 2011.

       Rear Admiral Waseem Akram SI(M), SBt joined Pakistan Navy and was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1982 and joined Naval Aviation in 1987.  The officer is a graduate of PN Staff College, Turkish Staff College and Pakistan National Defence University.  He has undergone a number of professional courses in various institutions, inland and abroad and also commanded various Pakistan Navy units.  He has also been Defence Attaché to Pakistan at Oman from 2004 to 2006.  Prior taking over the present appointment, he was serving at Naval Headquarters as Director General Naval Intelligence.

       Before handing over the command, the outgoing DG Rear Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi SI(M) addressed the parade.  He lauded the efforts of personnel of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency for safeguarding the interest of Pakistan in the Exclusive Economic Zone.  He also thanked the Ministry of Defence, authorities at Naval Headquarters, Fleet Headquarters, Coasal Command, Logistics Command and various other organizations for the support provided by tthem.
