         Rear Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi SI (M) has assumed the duty of Director General, Maritime Security Agency in a simple and impressive ceremony held at
MSS INDUS, Karachi on 08 November 2010.
                                  
         Rear Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi SI (M) joined Pakistan Navy in 1976.  Upon commissioning in June 1981, he was awarded the coveted Sword of Honour.  He has undergone a number of professional courses inland and abroad.  He has commanded various units which include 21st Mine Warfare Squadron, PNS KHAIBAR, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy, Commander 25th Destroyed Squadron and Commander Combined Task Force (CTF-150), at Bahrain.  His important staff appointments include Director Naval Warfare and Operational Plans, ACNS(O) and ACNS(Plans), and Chief Inspector (Navy) at the Naval Headquarters.  He is a graduate of Royal Australian Naval Staff College and has qualified Armed Forces War College from National Defence University, Islamabad.

         Before handing over the command, the out going Director General Rear Admiral Tehseen Ullah Khan SI (M) addressed the parade.  He lauded the efforts of personnel of Maritime Security Agency for safeguarding the interest of Pakistan in the Exclusive Economic Zone.  He thanked the Ministry of Defence, authorities at Naval Headquarters, Fleet Headquarters, Coastal Command, COMLOG Command, KS & EW and various other organizations for their support to PMSA.

         After the change of command ceremony, the new Director General laid wreath at the Mazar-e-Quaid.
