PMSA - FREE EYE CAMP AT BHIT ISLAND

Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) is the prime organization to protect the marine resources of Pakistan. Besides actively undertaking professional commitments and looking after the interests and rights of local fishermen in our EEZ, the Agency also focuses on humanitarian issues.
A large number of people living along the coastline are dependent on marine resources and engaged in the fishing profession for their livelihood. These communities are impoverished and have rudimentary health care and medical facilities. In particular, the women and children are the main sufferers.
In view of limited Government medical facilities available and to establish better understanding and close liaison with the fishing community, PMSA has planned to conduct Free Eye Camps along the coast. It is intended to hold a Eye Camp on 26 February 2011 with the coordination of LRBT. Doctors and Para Medics from PMSA and renowned specialists from the civil sector, addressed the needs of the patients. A Approximately 250-300 patients were examined. Free Eye Camp was provided to all the patients.
Director General Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Rear Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi SI(M) along with his family, visited the Medical Camp. He met members of the fishing community and discussed various fishing/marine related issues. The Director General assured them of Maritime Security Agency’s commitment to safeguard the interests of the fishing community and pursue the issues with the concerned Government departments.
