REAR ADMIRAL WASEEM AKRAM, SI(M) S Bt  

            Rear Admiral Waseem Akram SI(M) S Bt joined Pakistan Navy as Cadet in 1978 and commissioned in Operations Branch in 1982.  After obtaining his Sea Watch Keeping Certificate, the officer was appointment at Fast Patrol Craft where he performed the duties of Executive Officer and subsequently commanded it.  After completion of basic seaman courses from PNS BAHADUR, the officer performed the duties of Navigating Officer onboard Submarine Chaser for about one year.

            In 1986, the officer joined Pakistan Navy Aviation wing, where after doing his Basic Air Navigation Course, the Officer successfully completed his Observer Conversion training and qualified Observer Instructor Course on Seaking.  During his stay at Naval Air Station, the officer has also performed various important duties which include Base Operations Officer, Staff Operations Officer to COMNAV.  Senior Observer Seaking Squadron, CO Naval Aviation Training School and CO of Seaking Squadron.  While at sea, his important appointments include Underwater Warfare Officer of 25th Destroyer Squadron/ PNS TUGHRIL, Executive officer of Type-21 Ship and Type Commander.  The officer has also been Defence Attache to Pakistan at Oman from 2004 to 2006.  The Officer also served as Type Commander of Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron.  Before assuming the duties of Director General Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, the officer was on the billet of Director General Naval Intelligence.

            Rear Admrial Waseem Akram is a graduate of PN Staff College, Turkish Staff College and Pakistan National Defence University.   The Admiral happily married and blessed with two sons.
