POST CYCLONE PHET RELEIF ACTIVITIES
   


     After lashing the Makran coast on 05 June 10, the cyclone Phet caused torrential rainfall in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad and adjoining areas. Widespread destruction of hutments of coastal communities by sea swell and gusty winds was reported by fishermen`s representatives. Tens of thousands of people living along the Balochistan and Sindh coasts had been relocated to safe places. The cyclone hit the coast between Karachi and Keti Bunder, blew away roofs and uprooted trees and electricity poles. It made landfall at Mirpur Sakro in Thatta. It rained heavily in Hyderabad. Intermittent rainfall was reported from Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Mithiani, Kandiaro, Halani, Nawabshah, Dadu, Jamshoro, Mithi and Umerkot.

     PMSA being cognizant of its resposibility, reacted promptly to the devastating effects created by the cyclone PHET on 05 Jun 2010 particularly in coastal areas. 30 in no fishing boats were recovered in Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations and were handed over to the owners. It is pertinent to mention that PMSA provided large quantity of relief goods for distribution amongst victims throughout this operation. Concurrent with distribution of relief supplies PMSA, also setup a medical relief camp at Pasni. Large number of medicines were procureed and provided to medical relief camp.
